Horrifying murder: 65-Year-Old Chigozie Chigbu brutally slain, multiple machete wounds to head

The Abia State Police Command has officially confirmed the disturbing murder of a 65-year-old man, Chigozie Chigbu, within his own compound. This tragic incident occurred on a Thursday, and the details surrounding it are deeply troubling.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Maureen Chinaka, Mr. Chigbu’s lifeless body was discovered within his compound in Umumba, Nsirimo, Ubakala, Umuahia. The discovery followed a report made at the Ubakala Police Division in Abia.

Ms. Chinaka stated, “It was reported that the lifeless body of an individual was discovered in One Mr. Chigbu’s compound. The deceased was later identified as Chigbu Chigozie, a 65-year-old resident of Umumba Nsirimo, Ubakala, Umuahia South LGA. He was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple machete wounds to his head.”

Tragically, Mr. Chigbu was subsequently confirmed dead. Law enforcement personnel promptly responded to the scene of the crime, gathering evidence and taking photographs for investigative purposes.

The victim’s body has been transported to the mortuary, where it will undergo an autopsy to shed further light on the circumstances of the crime.

The police have already made arrests in connection with this incident, and preliminary investigations are underway. Ms. Chinaka confirmed that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further examination.
