Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu has donated $2.5 million for the reconstruction of the popular Zaria Central Mosque at a fundraising event in Abuja on Saturday.

Reports have it that the mosque which has been in existence for over 150 years and is situated within the Zazzau Emirate Council in Kaduna State collapsed in August, 2023 which unfortunately led to the loss of lives and injuries to several worshipers.

Rabia at the event said;

“In supporting this effort we are not on preserving something of historical significance but also investing in education and empowerment of people within the Zazzau emirate and other parts of Nigeria”.

“Giving back to society, helping and supporting communities,making positive impacts and aiding those in need is very close to my heart. This is what I aim to continue doing in the future, God willing,”

he said.

BUA’s chairman is recognized as one of Africa’s prominent philanthropists. In 2021, he established ASR Africa, a non-profit organisation dedicated to addressing sustainable solutions for developmental challenges in Africa’s healthcare, education, and social sectors.

Since its inception in 2021, the group has pledged $100 million towards its initiatives, underscoring its commitment to becoming a major philanthropic force in Africa.

The ASR Africa Initiative has been actively involved in various areas, including security, health, education, and social development. As part of its efforts, it granted 10 billion Naira, with 2.5 billion Naira allocated to each of four states.

Earlier this month, the initiative commenced the construction of a N2.5 billion Oncology Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State.
