A prospective National Youth Service Corps member, identified as Omoniyi Oluwaferanmi who was recently kidnapped on November 2 while en route to the NYSC camp in Abuja, has been released.

Sources maintained that his family secured his release with N10 million, although the bandits demanded a N20 million ransom.

Tobilola Kanmi, a colleague of the victim who posted the information of Mr Oluwafernami’s abduction on X (formerly known as Twitter), stated on Tuesday that Mr Feranmi had been set free by the bandits and thanked everyone who aided the release.

“Feranmi has been released. My photographer friend and everyone else who tweeted and gave, thank you so much,” he said.

Peter Adeyefa, a colleague of the 25-year-old who shared the flyer on his Instagram story and appealed to fellow Nigerians to assist in ensuring Mr Feranmi’s safe release, also confirmed his release.

“Oluwaferanmi is back home; thank you, ancient of days,” he said.

The NYSC spokesperson, Eddy Megwa, did not immediately respond to Peoples Gazette’s request for comments.
