In response to the soaring prices of essential commodities following the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola in Adamawa State has taken steps to alleviate the hardship faced by students by distributing food items.

The Provost of FCE Yola, Prof. Mohammed Usman Degereji, acknowledged the challenges students were encountering due to the increased cost of living.

In light of this, the college’s management decided to provide food items to ease the pressure on students, particularly during the examination period.

During the unveiling of these provisions on the school campus, Prof. Degereji said;

“The management thought providing food items to our students will reduce the pressure during the examination period like this to allow them to focus on their exams.

“We spent N7 million to purchase 1500 cartons of noodles for 3000 students living on campus.

“The management also provides free transportation to off campus staff to help them cope with the challenges of daily movement to and from the college.”

A staff member, Abubakat Bello during the distribution said, “The gesture is the first of its kind in the country and is worth emulating.”

Representing the students, Joy Angelou expressed gratitude to the college management and pledged that they would strive to achieve excellent results in their examinations.
