Following the recent boat accident that claimed the lives of 15 people barely 48 hours ago in Adamawa State, another devastating mishap has struck, resulting in the loss of 11 more lives.

The incident occurred at Kwatan Mallam Adamu in Gurin village within the Fufore Local Government Area, as reported by local residents.

“A mother who held up her infant on the surface of the water drowned, but the baby was saved by a diver. I think those who were rescued are not more than 20,” said Dahiru Gurin, a resident who witnessed the tragedy.

Alhaji Adamu Mai-nama, who had family members on board, shared his heart-wrenching account: “Only one child of mine was rescued alive, all the rest of my family members have drowned.”

Jngai Abdullahi, the Information Officer of Fufore Local Council, confirmed the recovery of 11 bodies by local divers.

Dr. Suleiman Aminu, the Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), also confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters.
