Tupac Shakur’s siblings have issued statements in reaction to the apprehension of Duane Keith “Keefe D” Davis, the individual believed to be linked to Tupac’s murder. Keefe D was taken into custody by Las Vegas Metropolitan police on Friday, September 29, following a grand jury indictment on charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon and a gang enhancement.

Mopreme Shakur, speaking with TMZ, expressed his satisfaction with the arrest, acknowledging that it brings some closure after many years of uncertainty. He emphasized that while one arrest doesn’t equate to complete justice for Tupac, it is a significant step in holding someone accountable for the rapper’s murder. Mopreme also expressed interest in the possibility of additional arrests, including potential accomplices.

Mopreme further voiced his desire for more information regarding the motive behind the infamous 1996 murder. He revealed that the Las Vegas Police Department (LVPD) had only recently reached out to Tupac’s family regarding the investigation, but the detective who initiated contact has since retired.

However, the police have indicated that the motive behind the killing was revenge, stemming from an incident where Tupac and his team reportedly assaulted Keefe D’s nephew after the Mike Tyson fight.

Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set,” also shared her thoughts with TMZ, stating, “This is undoubtedly a pivotal moment. The silence of the past 27 years surrounding this case has spoken loudly in our community.”

“It’s important to me that the world, the country, the justice system, and our people acknowledge the gravity of the passing of this man, my brother, my mother’s son, my father’s son. His life and death matters, and should not go unsolved or unrecognized, so yes, today is a victory but I will reserve judgment until all the facts and legal proceedings are complete.

“There have been multiple hands involved and there remains so much surrounding the life and death of my brother Tupac and our Shakur family overall. We are seeking real justice, on all fronts.”
