Court jails FULAFIA lecturer for maltreating student who allegedly snatched his daughter’s boyfriend

A High Court sitting in Nassarawa has sentenced a senior lecturer of the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), Fred Ayokhai, to six months imprisonment.

Ayokhai was taken into custody of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Lafia since October 22, 2022, he was convicted over conspiracy and assault on a 20-year-old orphan, Blessing Mathias, after consenting to a plea bargain agreement.

The lecturer was charged with criminal conspiracy, housebreaking, abduction and voluntarily causing grievous hurt without provocation and assault .

Others joined in the case as the 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants are Emmanuella, Bob-Praise and Saint-Dan, all children of the lecturer.

The presiding judge, Solomon Ayenajeh , whilst delivering judgment on Thursday, convicted the first defendant and sentenced him to six months in jail for criminal conspiracy and another six months for assault. The charges are to run concurrently.
