Father arrested for selling nine-year-old son for N400,000 in Akwa Ibom, gives shocking reasons

A man named Gabriel Okon Ekpiri from Ekit Itam Akpan Obong in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force. He sold his nine-year-old son for N400,000.

Ekpiri, who was apprehended by the Quick Intervention Squad of the police command, admitted to the crime, attributing it to the influence of the devil and the economic hardship he faced. This information was shared by Mr. Odiko MacDon, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, in a statement released on Tuesday in Uyo. SaharaReporters maintained.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Olatoye Durosinmi, condemned the heinous act, describing it as barbaric and completely unacceptable. The two Deputy Commissioners of Police serving in the Command, DCP Baba Lawan Audu and DCP Lawal Isa Mani, were also decorated by the Commissioner on Monday.

Expressing the Inspector General of Police’s congratulations, Acting IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, the Commissioner urged the newly decorated officers to enhance their productivity while fulfilling their deputy roles. The promoted officers expressed their gratitude to the Police Service Commission, the Inspector General of Police, and the Commissioner for their recognition and support. They also appreciated the Commissioner for his hard work and his caring approach towards them and the officers and men of the Command.
