The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation pipeline site in Idimu was raided by the Lagos State Police Command in the early hours of Saturday, as they discovered individuals engaged in illegal activities of siphoning Premium Motor Spirit.

According to a Twitter post by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the oil thieves hastily fled the scene, leaving behind their truck and equipment, when they spotted the approaching police officers.

Hundeyin stated, “ONGOING: CP Idowu Owohunwa at a site in Idimu where, today at approximately 2 am, oil thieves managed to gain access to an NNPC pipeline and were filling their tanker with PMS.

“The oil thieves quickly fled the scene, leaving behind their truck and tools, as the police officers promptly responded to the tipoff.”
