Gunmen abducted Mrs. Sadia Ogunyinka, a nurse identified as returning from a farm along Iwo/Ileogbo Road in Osun State on Friday, November 17, 2023, and shot her husband in the leg.

Ogunyinka, a staff nurse at the Primary Healthcare Department, Ola-Oluwa LG, Bode-Osi, Osun State, was then whisked away to an unknown destination.

According to a colleague of the victim, “No serious efforts on the part of the security agents to secure the freedom of the victim. The abductors are negotiating with the family. From N20m, the abductors have reduced their demand to N10m. We are seeking government involvement in securing her freedom.”

A message circulated among her colleagues partly read,

“Let’s join hands together to pray for the quick and safe return of Mrs Ogunyinka S.A who was reportedly kidnapped on Friday 17/11/2023 at gunpoint along Iwo-Ile Ogbo axis. May Almighty be with the family during this trying time.”

Despite colleagues’ fundraising efforts for her family, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, stating,

“The incident happened last week. We are making efforts to free the victim and arrest the perpetrators.”
