Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’allah, Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, announced a new policy today, October 4, 2023, at the 27th Pre-Convocation briefing in Abuja.

Under this policy, prospective students seeking admission to the university will be required to undergo and present a drug test as part of their admission process.

The university, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), is taking this proactive step to address the issue of drug abuse among students.

Prof. Na’allah emphasized the importance of knowing the drug status of students to help them stay drug-free during their academic journey.

It’s important to note that students who test positive for drug use will not be expelled from the university. Instead, they will be provided with rehabilitation and support services in partnership with the NDLEA.

This approach reflects the university’s commitment to helping students overcome drug-related challenges and lead healthier lives while pursuing their education.
