Tragic Death of Ahoada Division’s Police Chief Sparks Manhunt for Suspected Cultists

In a shocking incident on Friday, September 8, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada Division in Rivers State, SP Bako Angbashim, met a tragic end at the hands of suspected cultists.

The gruesome event unfolded as SP Bako and his team engaged in a fierce gun battle with a notorious cult leader known as 2baba. Unfortunately, their ammunition ran out, leaving them with no choice but to make a tactical retreat in the absence of reinforcements.

During this retreat, SP Bako sustained bullet wounds, and to the officers’ dismay, he was captured by the ruthless cultists. Meanwhile, a police informant who was also injured in the encounter is currently receiving medical treatment in an undisclosed location.

A horrifying video, believed to have been released by the cultists, showed the dismembered remains of Mr. Bako, accompanied by mocking voices. SP Bako was known for his distinctive habit of attending events barefoot during his service in Khana LGA of Ogoni, making him a popular figure in the community.

Rivers State Police Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, has confirmed the incident and pledged that the police force is actively pursuing the suspects to bring them to justice. The search for these culprits has become an urgent priority as the community grapples with the loss of a dedicated law enforcement officer.
