The police team responsible for running over a citizen in handcuffs in the Ekpoma area of Edo has been disbanded by Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun, the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP). This decision was announced by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja.

According to Adejobi, the disbandment is part of the IGP’s efforts to address unprofessional behavior exhibited by some officers attached to the Police Command in Edo. The objective is to establish regular and standardized police operations in the area and restore public trust in the Police Force. NAN reported.

The officers involved in the incident are currently undergoing disciplinary and administrative procedures. Adejobi emphasized that the IGP is committed to holding officers accountable for their actions, as such behavior will not be tolerated within the Nigeria Police Force.

Adejobi further reiterated the IGP’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics within the Nigeria Police. He urged the residents of the state to cooperate with the police personnel in carrying out their legal duties.
