The Lagos State National and State House of Assembly Election Petition tribunal, seated in Ikeja, Lagos State, has made a significant decision by annulling the February 25, 2023 election of Thaddeus Attah, the Labour Party (LP) lawmaker, as the Representative of the Eti Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State.

According to reports, the tribunal has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organize a supplementary election within the next 90 days in the 32 polling units within Eti-Osa. Additionally, the tribunal has mandated INEC to withdraw the return certificate that had been previously issued to Attah and conduct fresh elections in areas where voting did not take place on the initial Election Day.

In response to this development, Ibrahim Obanikoro, the APC candidate in the election, took to his Instagram story to express his thoughts. He stated, “The Feb 25 election has just been rightly declared inconclusive and supplementary elections have been ordered by the court. INEC has been ordered to withdraw the return certificate and conduct elections in areas where it didn’t hold on Election Day.” LIB reported.

Meanwhile, singer and PDP candidate in the same election, Olubankole Wellington, widely known as Banky W, also shared his perspective on his social media page. He wrote, “It is possible. Still,” hinting at the possibility of his election to office.

As of now, Thaddeus Attah has not publicly reacted to this significant development. In the initial February 25 election, Attah emerged victorious with 24,075 votes, followed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s Banky W, who secured 18,666 votes. Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared third with 16,901 votes.
