Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has opened up about her initial feelings when her husband, Bankole Wellington (aka Banky W), expressed his desire to enter the world of politics.

In a recent interview with Hip TV, Adesua shared that she felt a mixture of worry and disturbance upon hearing about Banky W’s political aspirations. She recalled her initial concerns about the decision.

Banky W made his political ambitions known on November 11, 2018, when he announced his intention to run for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat under the Modern Democratic Party. However, he was unsuccessful in both the 2019 elections, losing to Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress, and the 2023 elections, where he was defeated by the Labour Party candidate, Attah Thaddeus.

Despite her initial reservations, Adesua shared that she ultimately chose to support her husband because she believes that purpose is more important than fear. She expressed her unwavering commitment to see Banky W fulfill his purpose and stated that she stands by him wholeheartedly.

Adesua’s support for her husband in his political journey remains steadfast, reflecting her belief in the significance of pursuing one’s purpose regardless of any apprehensions or worries.

Her words, “When Banky said that he wanted to go into politics, I was a little bit worried and disturbed about it.

“But I also believe that purpose is more important than fear. And I want to see him fulfil purpose. So, he has my support 100 per cent.”
