According to a Premium Times report, the Governor died at about 2:00 am on Wednesday at a German hospital where he was receiving treatment, a senior government official in Ondo State.

Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who was first elected governor of Ondo State in 2016 reportedly died of leukemia and prostate cancer.

The Ondo State governor returned to Nigeria in September after embarking on a three-month medical leave in Germany.
