On Thursday, June 1, 2023, tragedy struck in Emuhu, a town located in the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, as a middle-aged man identified as Omiri was tragically crushed to death by a lorry truck. While many were expressing gratitude for the start of the new month of June, Omiri’s life was cut short in a devastating accident.

According to eyewitnesses interviewed by a reporter from the Ika Weekly Newspaper, Omiri originally hailed from the East but had been living in Umunede with his family for several years. Reports suggest that the accident occurred when Omiri, riding a motorcycle, attempted to cross to the other side of the lane and was unexpectedly struck by the lorry truck, which was traveling from the Asaba direction.

Eyewitnesses shared that the motorcyclist had taken a wrong turn onto the opposite lane while coming from the Old Umunede/Emuhu road. It is believed that he failed to check his right-hand side before proceeding to cross the road, resulting in the tragic collision.

Upon arrival at the scene, it was observed that the lorry truck, bearing the registration number Delta AYB-590YD, had been left abandoned by the driver immediately following the heartbreaking incident.
