Dele Agboola, a notable figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ada region of Osun State, met a tragic end as unknown gunmen, believed to be hired assassins, carried out a fatal attack.

This distressing incident unfolded on the night of Thursday, September 14, 2023, when Agboola was ruthlessly gunned down by three individuals who had craftily disguised themselves as customers with a purported interest in purchasing medicine from his wife’s shop, located in the Pako Area of Ada. LIB reported.

The assailants executed their sinister plan as the 42-year-old man, affectionately known as “Agbo,” briefly stepped out of the shop to return to his residence. Moments later, Agboola re-entered the shop, reportedly to retrieve his mobile phone charger.

According to an eyewitness who spoke with Punch, the tragic sequence of events unfolded as follows: “‘He was about to leave the shop again for his location behind the shop when three men approached him and asked if he was Dele Agboola, and he told them he was the person bearing the name.”’ Sadly, upon confirming his identity, they opened fire, leading to the devastating outcome. The assailants swiftly fled the scene, causing bystanders to scatter in various directions out of fear for their safety.

Reportedly, family members of the deceased prevented security authorities from removing Agboola’s remains for autopsy.

Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Osun State Command, confirmed the incident and emphasized that the case had been reported. Ongoing efforts are currently underway to apprehend the individuals responsible for this tragic assassination.
