Shaffy Bello, a renowned Nollywood actress, has opened up about the factors that led to her divorce from her caring husband after a quarter-century of marriage.
During a candid conversation with popular media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actress disclosed that the primary reason for her decision was the geographical distance between them, as her ex-husband, Akinrimisi, resided in the United States.
While acknowledging her ex-husband’s exceptional parenting skills, Bello expressed her desire for more in her life.
As a mother of two, she found it increasingly challenging to maintain a long-distance relationship that required frequent travels just to be with her spouse.
Bello explained that the considerable physical distance had taken a toll on their marriage, prompting her to make the difficult choice of ending it.
Reflecting on her decision, she shared, “He [my ex-husband] was an exemplary father to our children. However, I reached a point where I yearned for more. The constant back and forth traveling became exhausting. I realized that if I truly wanted to pursue my aspirations, it would require sacrifice.”
She emphasized that it wasn’t the institution of marriage that she sacrificed, but rather the strain of his presence in the United States combined with the distance that ultimately led to their divorce.
Coping with the circumstances became increasingly challenging for her, leading her to conclude that divorce was the best path forward.
