Super Falcons touch down Brisbane, ready to conquer Women’s World Cup

The Nigerian Super Falcons have touched down at their base in Brisbane, Australia, eagerly anticipating the commencement of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

With the players, officials, and backroom staff warmly welcomed by the FIFA team and the Nigerian community, the team arrived on Sunday morning, all set for the thrilling competition ahead.

During their stay, the Super Falcons will be accommodated at the prestigious Sofitel Luxury Hotels, Brisbane, ensuring a comfortable and focused environment as they prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.

Their debut match is scheduled to take place in Melbourne, where they will face the formidable Canadian team, Olympic champions, on Friday, July 21. The captivating encounter will unfold at the renowned Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Before the World Cup’s official commencement, Randy Waldrum’s side exhibited their prowess in a friendly game against Queensland Lions FC, securing an impressive 8-1 victory. Star player Asisat Oshoala, representing Barcelona Femeni, shined with a fantastic brace. Other notable goal scorers in the match were Ifeoma Onumonu, Rasheedat Ajibade, Monday Gift, Toni Payne, and Uchenna Kanu, each contributing to the Super Falcons’ dominant performance.
