Tragic auto crash claims 17 lives in Niger State

An auto crash at Takalafia village on the Yawuri Expressway in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State has left at least 17 persons dead.

The incident occurred around 3:00 am on Tuesday, involving a DAF articulated vehicle with 229 occupants, including 220 male adults, four female adults, and five male children.

According to Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer at the Federal Road Safety Corps, the accident resulted from speed violations, causing the driver to lose control. Of the occupants, 206 male adults, one female adult, and one male child were rescued but sustained various injuries.

Kazeem confirmed, “A total of 17 persons were killed in the crash, and the injured victims have been evacuated to Kontagora General Hospital, Niger, for immediate medical attention. The deceased have been deposited in the mortuary of the same hospital.”
