The Abia State House of Assembly has proposed the establishment of a rehabilitation center in Aba, aimed at assisting drug addicts, victims of poor parenting, and the less privileged. Speaker Emmanuel Emeruwa mentioned that this initiative aims to offer support and new opportunities to these individuals.

Additionally, the Assembly urged the state’s health insurance agency to fulfill its responsibilities after receiving complaints. A joint committee on finance and health will investigate the agency’s challenges and report their findings.

Speaker Emeruwa also introduced 25 standing committees and encouraged members to strive for the Assembly’s success. These decisions were based on urgent matters raised by representatives Uchenna Akachukwu and Roland Dennise.

Meanwhile, the government has already started renovating health facilities in various locations, responding to a state of emergency declared in the health sector. The Commissioner for Health, Ngozi Okoronkwo, conveyed this during a meeting with staff in Umuahia.
