The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast indicating hazy and sunny conditions across Nigeria from Saturday to Monday.

In Abuja, NiMet anticipates haziness combined with sunshine during the forecasted period.

On Saturday, NiMet predicts moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km over the Northern region.

The agency expects sunny skies enveloped in a hazy atmosphere over North-Central and inland Southern cities. Meanwhile, coastal areas are likely to experience partly cloudy conditions within the haze.

Furthermore, NiMet forecasts localized thunderstorms in Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states later in the day.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) cited NiMet’s forecast for Sunday, stating,

“For Sunday, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the North and the North-central regions during the forecast period.

“Sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere is expected over the inland cities of the South during the forecast period. Patches of clouds in the hazy atmosphere is expected over the coastal cities throughout the forecast period.

“Also for Monday, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the North, North central and the inland cities of the South during the forecast period.”

NiMet advises the public, especially those with respiratory conditions, to take precautions due to suspended dust particles.

“Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” it added.
