Terrorists, commonly referred to as “bandits,” launched a violent assault on the Nasarawa community in the Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in the tragic death of Samaila Buhari Mairago, the councillor representing Nasarawa Ward in the local council.

This ruling All Progressives Congress member fell victim to the terrorists’ attack on Monday, which occurred at his residence in Funtua town.

According to a source, the assailants unleashed a hail of gunfire and carried out indiscriminate attacks on homes in the area, with a growing sense of despair among the local population.

The frequency of such attacks in the region has caused deep concern, prompting calls for government intervention.

The source stated, “Bandits on Monday invaded Nasarawa ward, Funtua LGA of Katsina and killed the councillor of the ward known as Mairago.”

Katsina State, along with other North-West states, continues to grapple with the menace of banditry and criminal activities.

Despite the government’s ongoing efforts to curb their activities, these gunmen persist in carrying out acts of violence, including killing, maiming, and kidnapping for ransom.
