A 43-year-old Catholic priest passed away a few hours after he and his partner checked into a hotel.

According to local media reports on Sunday, the deceased individual, identified as Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku from St. Peters Ruai, had arrived at the Monalisa Hotel Delview in Gatanga with his partner, a 32-year-old woman named Ruth Nduhi, on Saturday evening. PUNCH reported.

As per the police report, the woman informed the hotel management on Sunday morning that the priest was feeling dizzy and losing consciousness.

Concerned about his condition, they decided to transport him to Kenol Hospital in Murang’a using his own vehicle.

Unfortunately, the unfortunate events unfolded, and upon their arrival at the hospital, Kariuki was pronounced dead.

The sudden demise has raised suspicions, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing.

“A Catholic priest named Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, aged 43, serving at the Archdiocese of Nairobi and also working as a farmer in the Mangu area, checked in at the aforementioned hotel along with his girlfriend, who happens to be his colleague at their workplace in Ruai,”

“Early this morning, around 8:00 a.m., the priest’s girlfriend informed the hotel management that her boyfriend was experiencing dizziness and losing consciousness, necessitating their rush to the hospital. They immediately took him to Kenol Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The body has been transferred to Mater Hospital Mortuary, while the police launch an investigation to determine the cause of his death.
