The family of actor John Okafor, known as Mr. Ibu, has offered a health update with a deep sense of gratitude. In a message posted on his Instagram page, they revealed that the ailing actor has undergone five successful surgeries and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“We want to thank God and most especially the General public for their support, encouragement, and prayers during this trying period for our dad,” the family expressed.
“We called on Good Nigerians, and we are very grateful for the response in every aspect, most especially the donations; it came in very timely and was very helpful.”
They elaborated on Mr. Ibu’s progress, noting, “So far, daddy has gone through 5 successful surgeries, and he is still recovering in the ICU. Daddy is immensely grateful, and we are thankful to the general public during this phase of our lives.”
The family assured, “We appreciate all the donations made to this account, and as soon as daddy is better, he will personally acknowledge all donations respectively!”
Continuing, the family underlined their reliance on continued prayers and unwavering support. They hoped for Mr. Ibu’s swift stabilization to facilitate advanced treatment abroad.
“We are still counting on all your prayers and unwavering support as we pray he gets stabilized quickly to enable us to fly him abroad for further advanced treatment,” they stressed. “The John Okafor family is grateful to all Nigerians.”
This update followed Mr. Ibu’s earlier public plea in September, where he shared, “I have been down for so many weeks and have been on admission.”
He spoke of the medical doctors’ assessment, stating, “They might resort to cutting off my leg if they exhaust the options they have.”
Mr. Ibu had requested prayers and financial support, sharing the details of his account to facilitate contributions.
