The Presidential Election Petition Court has adjourned the hearing on the petition filed by Peter Obi and the Labour Party against the election of President Bola Tinubu.

According to PUNCH, this decision was made in response to the improper submission of documents as evidence of alleged malpractices during the February 25 presidential election.

During the court proceedings on Thursday, the documents from the 23 Local Government Areas of Benue State were found to contain inconsistencies. Despite attempts to reconcile the differences, the use of unfiled documents by Obi and the Labour Party’s counsel, Chief Emeka Okpoko, SAN, was deemed illegal and rejected.

Consequently, the court adjourned the hearing and instructed the legal team to refile the schedule of documents in compliance with the pre-hearing report’s provisions.

Peter Obi, the Vice Presidential candidate of the LP, Datti Baba Ahmed, and other party leaders were present in court to observe the proceedings.

The panel of five Justices, led by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, temporarily recessed to their chambers while Obi’s legal team resolved the document discrepancies.
