In a brazen attack on Wednesday, armed robbers targeted several commercial banks in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, resulting in numerous injuries to customers and an as-yet-unconfirmed number of fatalities.

Disturbing videos shared with SaharaReporters captured the town echoing with gunfire, prompting residents and passersby to flee for safety. The full extent of the damage inflicted by the armed robbers on the banks remained unclear at the time of this report.

Reports indicated that the town experienced a standstill in social and business activities for several hours, with both human and vehicular movements coming to a halt during the course of the robbery.

Witnesses revealed that the robbers utilized dynamite to forcefully breach the banks’ entrances, seizing undisclosed amounts of money in the process. The incident has left Ikere-Ekiti in a state of shock and disruption, raising concerns about the security of the community.
