Motorists and travelers experienced significant delays on the Lokoja-Okene Expressway on November 11, 2023, due to the gubernatorial elections determining Kogi State’s leadership for the next four years.

Military checkpoints intercepted some travelers on this crucial highway, a vital link connecting the southern and northern regions of Nigeria.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had previously imposed restrictions on vehicular movement in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa states, where simultaneous governorship elections were taking place on the same Saturday.
