Group celebrates Akpabio’s victory as Senate president, puts rumors of islamization to rest

A group called the National Progressive Hub, consisting of members from the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed support for Senator Godswill Akpabio’s election as Senate President. They believe that his victory has effectively put an end to the alleged plot to Islamize Nigeria, a claim that was previously dismissed by the APC leadership.

The discussions surrounding the Islamization agenda gained momentum after former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, made controversial statements in a viral video. El-Rufai justified his appointment of Muslims to key positions in the Kaduna State Government, sparking concerns among Christians. He also expressed satisfaction that a similar trend had occurred at the national level with the election of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president and Kashim Shettima as vice president.

In response, the National Progressive Hub, represented by its Coordinator Bukie Okangbe and National Youth Leader Tukura Kwayi, issued a joint statement. They congratulated Senator Godswill Akpabio on his election as Senate President and expressed their belief that this victory has debunked the rumors of an Islamization agenda. The group attributed the spread of such rumors to opposition parties and critics of the ruling APC.

The statement emphasized that Akpabio’s election signifies his national influence, legislative capabilities, and his positive impact on politics. They also expressed their confidence that Nigeria will now witness good governance and effective leadership under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Akpabio, without unnecessary disputes and distractions. The group believes that this outcome reaffirms the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu.
