On July 24, 2023, a heart-wrenching hit-and-run incident occurred along the Benin/Asaba Express Road in Igbodo, Delta State, resulting in the untimely deaths of two women, Mrs. Joy and Mrs. Etumonu.
Both were natives of Ekwuoma and were on their way to the market in Igbodo when the accident happened. Regrettably, the driver of a speeding Sienna car struck them, fleeing the scene immediately. Witnesses reported that the women attempted to cross the road without checking for oncoming traffic.
Tragically, Mrs. Joy died at the scene, and her body was taken to Kifa mortuary in Umunede. Despite efforts to save her, Mrs. Etumonu succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to a hospital in Agbor by the police. This unfortunate incident has left their community in deep sorrow.
