Aliko Dangote, Chairman and CEO of Dangote Group, announced that the first product from Dangote Refinery will be available in the market by the end of July or the beginning of August this year. During the inauguration of the refinery in Lagos State, Dangote emphasized the goal of increasing production to meet the nation’s demand for high-quality products. The primary objective is to eliminate Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products that are often toxic and substandard.

Furthermore, Dangote expressed the intention to operate the refinery at maximum capacity and efficiency, enabling competitive exports to markets in the ECOWAS and other regions where the majority of countries rely on imports to fulfill their petroleum product needs. He viewed this project as a significant opportunity for Nigeria, aligning with the African Union’s commitment to creating an African common market through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemical Project, a subsidiary of Dangote Industries Limited owned by Aliko Dangote, was commissioned earlier by President Muhammadu Buhari. Situated at the Dangote Industries Free Zone in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, the facility will process crude oil from Africa, Asia, and America, delivering approximately 38 million liters of petrol, diesel, kerosene, and aviation fuel to Nigeria daily. With a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the refinery will produce various petroleum products such as diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, and kerosene, all meeting Euro-V quality standards. Additionally, it will produce polypropylene as a byproduct.
