In a devastating incident, Grace Chalya Silas, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was brutally murdered by unidentified assailants, suspected to be armed robbers, in Kaduna State.

As of the time of this report, specific details of the incident remain unclear. However, it is known that Grace, a graduate from the University of Jos, fell victim to a fatal attack and robbery while she was out for a morning jog on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

In response to this heart-wrenching tragedy, friends and former classmates have taken to Facebook to express their grief.

Comfort Elisha wrote,

“No, what is really happening to Jossite and the Special Education department? We haven’t finished mourning Kekefas Emmanuel, and now it’s Chalya, brutally killed in Kaduna while she was faithfully serving her country. May your killers know no peace, Chalya. This is too much to bear.”

Another friend added,

“What is the meaning of life? To struggle and be senselessly killed while going for a morning jog? Or to go to sleep and never wake up? What is life? What is life? What is life? Chalya, your absence has left a profound wound that will take a long time to heal. The individuals responsible for your untimely death shall find no peace. It’s incredibly difficult to bid you farewell, but may you rest in peace with the Lord.”
