In a recent gala held in Kigali, Rwanda, Nigerian artist Divine Ikubor, more popularly known as Rema, emerged victorious in the Song of the Year category at the 2023 Trace Awards, surpassing his fellow industry heavyweights Burna Boy and Davido.

The awards ceremony, which gathered a multitude of musicians, artists, fans, and industry stakeholders in the East African nation, showcased Rema’s standout track “Calm Down” and also recognized him as the Best Global African Artist of the Year.

Despite stiff competition from Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid, the Mavin signee seized the coveted award.

Davido, not to be outdone, walked away with two awards, claiming honors for ‘Best Male Artist’ and ‘Best Collaboration.’ Meanwhile, Burna Boy’s exceptional ‘Love Damini’ project earned him the prestigious Album of the Year accolade.
