Nigerian Afropop singer, Yemi Eberechi Alade popularly known as Yemi Alade has shunned a supporter of hers over what seemed like a comparison between herself and singer Tiwa Savage.
The self-proclaimed Mama Africa, who performed at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) opening ceremony in Côte d’Ivoire while exuding both musical prowess and sisterhood shared a video clip and captioned “Africa our time is NOW!!” she sparked joy and anticipation among fans.
However, one individual, lurking under the username @ThatNigerianlad wrote, “U better than tiwa,” with the aim of sowing discord between Alade and fellow music powerhouse Tiwa Savage.
Alade who went all out to shut down the negativity with grace and wisdom wrote; “Comparison is the thief of Joy,” reminding everyone that “We’re both winning…. celebrate and support us all.”
This swift and mature response showcased Alade’s commitment to uplifting fellow artists and fostering a supportive community within the music industry.
Instead of fueling a rivalry, Alade’s words turned the spotlight back onto the celebration of African talent and the just conducted AFCON event.
